Track day and Devil’s Highway 2021

What a fantastic heart pumping and octane filled weekend. 10 cars left Phoenix heading down to Willcox on Friday. We hit some heavy downpour but we made it in time for trackside dinner at Inde Motorsports Ranch. We celebrated 3 birthdays; Jenn, Eddie and Kacey. The tradition of hanging out in the evening with some drinks and laughs ensued right after dinner.

Day 2 started early with breakfast and drivers meeting. The track went hot at 8am and everyone went on a parade lap, followed by lead-follow. Session 2 was open for folks to run as they please and everyone had plenty of fun and most importantly no accidents. Some folks had a chance to take a private 4-5 lap session with the instructor Jake. Lunch was trackside as well and overall the food was delicious.
We wrapped up at Inde and headed over to Hannagan Meadows taking the Devil’s Highway. There were many obstacles in the form of goats, sheep, turkeys and even rocks on the road from the recent rains. Thanks to Peter Miller for doing to dry run the weekend prior to confirm the road was open as the websites didn’t give us proper confirmation. It was a quick drive up to Hannagan Meadows and everyone settled into the front porch with a fantastic view of the meadows with their favorite drinks.

Day 3 started with us heading north on Devil’s highway and over to Payson for lunch. Quick stop for lunch and everyone was home by 4pm to sign off on a great event. Special thanks to Jenn and Peter for organizing this entire event and also for doing the dry run.

Lunch cruise to Payson 2021

The cars needed a break from the heat and so did our members. So, we drove up to Payson for some cooler temps and a club sponsored lunch. 10 cars went on this trip, planned and led by our member Will Coleman. The restaurant had reserved parking and the full patio reserved for us. Great times and great weather. To top it off, a group of boy scouts came in just as we were heading out and we think we made their day. They took pictures, heard the cars rev and could not stop grinning end to end.

Mancave meets Mimosas 2021

Karen and Gus Chengelis opened their doors for a club member gathering in their fantastic and very spacious garage. Everyone brought in food and/or drinks to share and Karen had a full spread of meats and mimosas. Gus walked us through his car collection, all in the perfectly sealed air conditioned garage. It was great time and can’t wait to do this again next year.

Drive to Tucson 2021

The day started early with folks driving to our meeting spot at Love’s gas station at Wild Horse Pass. 11 cars gathered to drive down to Tucson with our first stop at San Xavier del Bac Mission. This is a historic Spanish Catholic Mission located 10 miles of Tucson. Built between 1783 and 1797 makes it the oldest European structure in AZ receiving over 200k visitors each year.

After a quick tour and pics at the mission, we heading out to Pima Air and Space Museum. For those who do not know, this is the world’s largest non-government funded aerospace museums. The museum displays nearly 300 aircrafts spread over 80 acres on a campus occupying 127 acres. After a quick lunch break at the grill within the museum, we explored the multiple huge hangers and outdoor displays consisting of first Air Force One, military, navy, army aircrafts and helicopters. Must do for anyone visiting Tucson.

Great times were had and everyone drove back home without any incidents.

Dyno Day 2021

Our first dyno day on Feb 20, 2021 was a success. 12 cars registered but with the fast turnaround and efficiency at Cordes, we had 17 cars lined up to see what power they were putting down. Weather was perfect and folks enjoyed sitting out in the sun or getting a closer look of the cars on the dyno. Lunch was provided by the club and everyone stayed until all the cars were done. Thank you to our Gold Sponsor, Cordes Performance Racing. The shop, the set up, the crew, everything was spot on.

Some puzzled members with numbers not up to expectation and some very happy members who made more power than expected.

UMC Diamond Cancer Center

Arizona Viper Club at UMC Diamond Children’s Cancer Center on Nov 10th. It was a great opportunity to brighten kids day, with Ridemakerz Build a Viper toy car. For the kids that couldn’t come down and build with us, we had the nurses take them to their rooms for the family to help them build. They also got a chance to sit in any true to size Viper they wanted to. This brought real big smile to all the kids and their families.
